Which of These Contacts Suit Your Needs?

October 25, 2021

Options for types of contact lenses have expanded considerably in the past decades. There was a time when plain hard and soft lenses were the only choices. Now, however, there are many types from which to choose.

At the office of Brilliant Eye Care, our skilled and expert optometrists use their extensive knowledge of the ocular system and the complexities of the eye to fit contact lenses and treat a wide variety of eye conditions. Our team is made up of friendly, highly trained specialists who are eager to help you feel comfortable and relaxed while benefitting from the very best in optometric care.

Read on to find out if any from this list pique your interest!

Soft: They’re made of water and a special kind of plastic. The water allows oxygen through to your cornea (the clear, front part of your eye), which, without the oxygen, would swell, cloud up, blur your vision or worse. Soft lenses are comfortable and decrease the condition known as dry eye.

Rigid Gas-Permeable: They are made of silicone, are less pliable than soft contacts and give your cornea oxygen. Some people’s vision improves with rigid gas-permeables instead of soft.

Bifocals: The older we get, the more our eyes have trouble focusing from near to far and vice versa. Bifocals, which come in soft and gas-permeable forms, have prescriptions for your near and far sights. Another option: Get contacts for distance vision and wear reading glasses for up-close stuff.

Visibilities have a smidge of color so they’re easier to locate if you drop one.

Enhancements enrich your natural eye color and are a bit darker than the visibilities’ tint.

Color lenses are unmistakably darker and make your eyes look like a different color. Green, amethyst and violet are some of the bolder colors. Despite the ads you see for them online and in print, get them from only an optometrist.

Talk to one of our optometrists about the best type of lenses for you. Brilliant Eye Care is committed to the health of all of our patients. We’ve earned the trust of all of our clients and look forward to earning yours. For more information about our practice and many services, please don’t hesitate to call us today.
