Dr. Le Gist grew up in Dallas, TX and earned her Bachelors degree at The University of Texas in Austin. She attended The University of Houston's College of Optometry (UHCO) where she received her Doctor of Optometry degree.
She began her optometry career as an United States Naval Officer by providing eye care to active duty military members and their dependents at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. While serving in the U.S Navy, she was deployed on the USNS Mercy for a six month humanitarian mission. There, she cared to patients from Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, East Timor and Papua New Guinea. She has also mentored students from Southern California College of Optometry, Pacific University College of Optometry and University of Houston College of Optometry to help improve their clinical skills.
Dr. Le Gist became a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 2010 and was an assistant clinical professor at UHCO between February 2013-April 2014.
Dr. Le Gist truly loves getting to know her patients and helping them with all their vision needs. She always enjoys working with students and has had several Texas A&M students shadow her to learn more about the profession and to gain some experience.
She loves to travel to new places with her husband, Ben. They have been to Bali, Santorini, and Belize, just to name a few. She is also an amateur snowboarder and tries to squeeze in a trip to the mountains each year. She is excited to take her three sons with her next time and teach them how to snowboard.
